Due to the nature of Closed Networks using priority protocol, only software from the manufacturer will be able to communicate with the charge point. If the manufacturer ceases to be in existence, they provide a bad service, increase their annual fees above the market or any other reason you will not be able to move your business to another provider.

You will have 2 choices:

• Continue to pay the current provider (and potentially start a second network from another provider or Open Network).
• Remove the charge points from this manufacturer and replace with another manufacturer or ones using an Open Network.

This is why open charge networks are so important to EV adoption across the UK. By being OCPP compliant, charge point owners can change network provider without the cost of removing current charge point installations.
